GOLDEN TRIANGLE & WHITE TOWNS OF ANDALUCÍA, MAY 3 - 17, 2016​

Following our highly successful scouting trip in May 2014, we are delighted to offer a tour of Andalucia's Golden Triangle of Granada, Cordoba, and Seville, the well known and beautiful cornerstones of Andalucían culture, history, and architecture, interspersed with visits and overnight stays in some of the most exquisite Pueblos Blancos (White towns) nestled into the dramatic mountain landscape of the Parque Natural Los Alcornocales.

This tour will be photography throughout the day, from dawn to dusk, with the focus being the culture, architecture, and landscapes of Andalucian Spain. There will be long walks, up steep hills on cobblestones or rough terrain, particularly in the White Towns, and you need to be in good physical condition in order to maximise your own photographic opportunities, and maintain the camaraderie and input that comes from the interaction with like minded photographers in a small group. We will be a party of 7 only, including Jeremy and Herb, self-driving to maximise our access to hidden gems. This means that luggage space is very restricted!  

Trip outline
  • Explore the culture of Islamic Spain through its magnificent monuments including Seville’s Alcazar, Córdoba’s Mosque and Granada’s Alhambra
  • Photograph the fascinating relationships between Christian, Jewish and Islamic visual culture at palaces, synagogues, mosques and baths in Córdoba, Ronda and Granada
  • Visit the Festival de los Patios in Córdoba, a visual feast of colourful flowers, stone mosaics and ceramic decorations during which many delightful, hidden, Islamic-style courtyard gardens are opened to public view (subject to confirmation of 2016 dates)
  • Explore the beauty of Andalucía’s white towns like Montefrío, Arcos de la Frontera, Ronda, Setenil de las Bodegas with overnight stays designed to maximise our sense of immersion in the local culture, as well as perfect light opportunities for photography at each end of the days. We will be in Setenil for the Romeria di San Isidro, the patron saint of farmers, and whose festival lasts for a week, culminating in processions and festivities on May 15th. The Spanish are wonderful, generous, and spontaneous hosts, and we are sure that this will be a fabulous tour with loads of delightful surprises. We also plan a flamenco photo shoot in Seville
All entrances and meals are included, including house wine.
